\By: Suzanne Collins Reviewed by: Dawson Glogau This non-stop reading book was published in the year of 2008. In the future of the America is a place called Panem, a very controlling government. In Panem there are different districts. These districts were made when the up-rising against Panem began, forming “The Hunger Games”. These games were made to remind the districts of how powerful their government is and put fear into the hearts of all 12 districts. Two teens from every district will be picked and most likley die. Katniss Evergreen is a normal teenager in district 12, just trying to make her way. She doesn't agree with the statements that the government makes, but still deals with it. Her refuge is hunting with the bow that her dad made(who died in a coal mining accident) and hunting with her best friend, Gale. Until one day when Katniss makes a sacrifice for her sister and joins The Hunger Games. She and Peeta, the boy who got drew, meet and train and have some rough topics faced to them in the capitol. Then the games begin. I would give this book a amazing 10/10. This book is one-of-a kind and one that you will never forget. I would also recommend the next 2 books in the trilogy. This book is recommened to teens who love adventure, action packed books. Review by Lily Williams This book, by Dean Hughes, published in 2001, takes place around the end of 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge. It tells the story of two young men. One fifteen, and one seventeen. One Hitler Youth, and one an American paratrooper. They both want to prove themselves to someone, but it soon turns into something different. One wanting to kill the enemy and one wanting to go home. Eventually they cross paths and their true selves are revealed. This book, as sad and disappointing as it can be, is really good. It is well written and the characters are relatable. Most people have made an impulsive choice to prove something. That's what these characters do. Eventually they think about their decisions, and who they left at home, something everybody does when away from who they love. Out of 10, I would give this book a 9. It is awesome, but starts off slow and somewhat uninteresting. I would recommend this book to people who are interested in World War Two, wars, or history. By Lily Deane
For the movie review I did “Beauty and the Beast”. It is about a girl name Belle who is a smart, beautiful and strong young woman. She then sacrifices herself for her dad and is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she becomes friends with the castle's staff. She then spends more time with the beast and ends up look beyond the beast's looks which allowed her to recognize the kind heart and soul of the true prince that is beneath the beast. How will the story end? Watch to find out! I would give this story 5 stars! It is great for the family and for Disney fans. By Jay Bundy This month's movie review is Fate of the Furious. The reason that I picked this movie is because I like these action-packed movies. The movie tells a story about a group of friends that get to gather but all of the sudden that changes and people seek revenge! See what happens next! I would give this movie five stars for the amount of action and the plot. |
