This is a review of the book The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, published in 1952. This book is the former diary of a girl named Anne Frank. It displays the struggles and hardships of hiding during World War Two. This book takes place over a course of about two years. Anne Frank wrote an entry on most of those days. Not long after receiving her blank diary, her and her family flee into hiding. They move into what Anne calls “The Secret Annex.” Afterwards, another Jewish family moves in. Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan. Anne does not get along very well with them. After living with the Van Daans for awhile, another Jewish refugee moves in. His name is Dussel. Over the course of these diary entries, Anne grows resentful towards her mother and Mrs. Van Daan. They treat her like a bratty child and she despises it. Anne has no one to confide in except her diary. After some time, she befriends the Van Daan’s son, Peter. They spend hours talking and the adults ridicule Anne for it. Before the conclusion of the diary, Anne writes that she feels lonelier than ever and has no one to talk to. On a scale, I would give this book a 10/10. It describes what is was like to hide and be Jewish during the holocaust. It recounts the hardships of a teenager treated as a child. I feel like some people could relate with the things she does and thinks. The book doesn't have a plot because it was a diary, but is a collection of true events. While Anne wrote in her diary, she also wrote stories. They are published separately in a book called “Tales From the Secret Annex”. By: Ashleigh causer
I would recommend this book if you like horses, and a lot of suspense in books. This book was good and used many details and events throughout the book. I would give this a 9 out of 10. I would give this a 9 because it could have used a better ending. But in the beginning, it was kind of slow. Once it got going it was one heck of a book, and went by quick if you read it. This was mainly about a war and how an older lady rescued 2 little kids from an abusive mother. The girl loved horses and the lady had a pony that she learned to ride. |
