By Lilly W. This is a review of the book “Dumplin’” by Julie Murphy, published on September 15, 2015. The main protagonist in this story is an overweight 16 year old named Willowdean, also known as Dumplin’. She wants to prove to her small town that she is more than an overweight teen. As the annual town pageant comes back, Willowdean wants to participate to make her statement. She gathers a group of other misfits like her to join her. She joins, to disappoint her mother, the woman in charge of the pageant. She works at a fast food restaurant along with a fellow high schooler named Bo. While preparing for the pageant, she must deal with her crush on Bo. She said, “he has been the best and worst part of my day.” Along with being overweight, Dumplin’ has to deal with the somewhat recent death of her grandmother, and the fact that her closest friend is drifting away. Her friend, Ellen, got a job in the mall. She meets a new friend who is much skinnier than Willowdean. Ellen’s new friend, Callie is also competing in the pageant. Along with Callie, a girl named Becka is also competition. This is a great book for middle schoolers because it inspires self-confidence. It has elements of comedy and problems that everyone will face at some point. At one point the main character in this book became insecure. She began to overcome it and set a good example for her friends. Everyone could use a role model like that in their life. The book is relatable and just all around good. This movie is about a red bird that does not fit in with everybody else. He lives alone by himself .Then the green pig comes and try to be nice to the birds. The Pigs end up tricking them in to a big house with music and the pigs steal of the birds eggs. Red has a plan to get all the eggs back. I think this a good movie. I would rate the movie 5 stars. Although, the Mogodorians are constantly trying to find them, to capture or kill the survivors of Lorien because when they unite they will be able to destroy the Mogodorian Will Four and his Cêpan be caught by the Mogodorians? I would give this book an “A” rating and recommend it to all young adults. This book was one of my favorites and is the first in a series of seven. In the movie Batman v.s Superman, these two superheros were fantasized to have the greatest battle of all time. The bat of Gotham and the son of Krypton had an epic battle which ended in a speechless way. These two superheros have many strengths and weaknesses. If you want to see who, won go to the nearest theater and find out.
This book is about a girl named Emma Carstairs. Emma is a Shadowhunter. Shadowhunters are half human, half angel and their job is to kill demons and protect humans from them. Emma’s parents were killed a few years ago in a series of murders in Los Angeles. No one ever figured out who or what killed them. A few weeks ago, the murders started again. The victims were found with writing from a demon language all over the body. The same was true for Emma’s parents. Emma and her best friend Julian go on a mission to discover who the murderer is before it’s too late for all of them.
I gave this book an A. There is suspense throughout the entire book, and the author keeps you guessing at what will happen. I guarantee the ending will not be what you think. I definitely recommend any Cassandra Clare book if you like fantasy and mystery. |
