Students and teachers at Kane Middle School spent the last month collecting nonperishable food items to make sure that everyone would be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast. The collection was organized by Mr. Chamberlain along with students in National Junior Honor Society and Student Council.
Mrs. Grolemund is the current school board secretary and has been a part of the Kane Area School District for 50 years. Before she was a school board member she taught at Kane Area School District. She recently donated an art piece to the middle school. With years of teaching in Kane under her belt, she believes the artwork represents what the entire school district stands for. She is more than qualified to say that after being a part of the district for 50 years. The artwork itself is a piece of slate painted with the image of a wolf. It was made by an art vendor with the intentions of selling it. The slate has been placed between the auditorium doors in the middle school. Interview by Lily Williams Students took time out of their busy schedule on Thursday to honor veterans for Veterans Day. The band, directed by Mr. Thornberg, performed at the beginning of the assembly. Next, several students spoke about the meaning of Veterans Day. Speaking on behalf of the student-body were Reese Novosel, president of the National Junior Honor Society, and Rainee Wright, president of the Student Council. Pictured below are the winners of the VFW's essay contest "The America I Believe In."
On October 21st, Mr. John MacRoy, also known as “The Butterfly Man,” presented his educational program at Kane Middle School. The program, which teaches students about natural history, science, geography, art, and environmental education, was done for the 7th grade Science classes taught by Ms. Jodell Barner. As part of this educational presentation, students viewed his unique slide show as well. They also viewed his rare butterfly and insect collection that contains over 4,000 different species from all around the world. The program was generously sponsored by the KARCC.
This week's "Can You Spot It" is kind of hard, so do not let it trick you. I will give you one hint: When you are done with the item at the end of the day it can fold up. Good Luck!!! A.Chorus Risers B.Lunch Tables C.Bleachers Article by: Jillian Watts By Guest Writer: Trenton Bradybaugh This bridge building assignment was completed by 8th grade students in Mr. Zelenski's technology class. The bridge assignment was to test students' knowledge on bridge designs and what design would hold the most weight. Each student had 144 inches of wood to use to build their bridge. When it came time to test the bridges everyone's bridge did very well. The Kane Area Middle School Accelerated Reader winners for the month of October have been selected.
