I hadn’t been home for a while, I was helping father with the horses. Father said mother called to tell us that dinner was ready, just as we finished feeding them. As we got into the 4x4 and started to head back, just out of the corner of my eye, I saw a turkey! I pointed at it and father reminded me that every 10 years on thanksgiving day if you see a turkey, then you will have good luck for the rest of your life! Guess what, today marked the 10 years! He hurried to get his phone out of his pocket and just as he was about to snap a picture the turkey ran away! I said “ It must have been just for us.” and he replied “yes.”

You may think we are mess ups Unfit for society We just want to have a variety We just want to become someone Someone who is human Someone that isnt singled out for whom they want to be We may be low on the society tree But we are still here We who you don't hear We are just trying to reach out We arent being gay for clout We are who we are We don't care if you raise the bar We just want your assistance Though you show resistance We will show our pride Trying to get your acceptance So what if I marry a bride I do not need a man Telling me who to be Telling me I should tan No, I enjoy being a ginger vampire We may not be apart of your empire But we just want to be accepted into your society We don't need the extra anxiety We just need parental love and support We don't need you to cut us short We just need you So please gather your crew And help our generation join the others With our sisters and brothers We can become united again So please grown ups Creative Writing Club is pleased to announce that all three poetry entries were chosen for publication in Young Writer’s USA contest “Through Their Eyes USA 2020 - Inner Voices.” Each received a letter, bookmark, and certificate. So my story starts at a graveyard so my story is called… Awakening the Undead By: Sofia Bailey So I woke up and I realized it was Halloween. I jumped out of bed and went down stairs but then my mom said “ Finally you’re get ready you have to go to school.” My day was ruined because I completely forgot today was a school day. So as I got outside I realized that the bus was leaving without me so I ended up walking to school. So as I got in school I heard some kids talking about going to a graveyard to conjure up some evil spirits so I thought nothing of it and I went up to them and said “ Can I come with you guys?” Little did she know it wasn’t just a Halloween prank. They were actually going to awaken the undead. Later that night they all met up at the graveyard. So then they went into the graveyard and found some random person's grave and everyone else started saying some weird words she did not understand but she went along with it and started saying what they were saying. A few minutes later they said that it did not work so let's all go home. So they thought nothing of it. A few days later some weird things started happening to all of them like one day one of them went to school in great health but then they ended up getting sent home. And then those kids were never seen again….... The 7th graders recently completed a cross-curricular activity centering around the book The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind that they read in social studies class. The book centers around a boy named William who uses a windmill to power a water pump to help his village in Malawi. Students participated in many interdisciplinary activities including applying text structure analysis to background information in ELA and building working wind turbine models in science.
Photo and article submitted by Mr. Gasbarre The Kane Area Middle School Student Council recently held a Tik Tok Dance Contest for students. I have a little bit of time because Bella went to the bathroom. It went so well! She had the loudest scream I have ever heard, and she ran right away after the fact! We are going to hang out here for a while, then get our costumes on! I think we are going to go trick or treating around like 6 pm, but it’s only 11 am. I just heard the toilet flush, got to go! Write after we’re done!
I’m back! It’s the next day and I got over 200 pieces of candy! We went to the haunted house around 9 pm yesterday. Bella hated it, she got soooo scared, but I loved it! I got scared a couple of times, but it was mostly super fun! My fav part was when the zombie punched a hole through the wall and jumped out! Mom decided to go with us too, but she regretted it as soon as she walked in! I guess I will have to ask another friend and we will have to go in by ourselves! I got to go, I just heard the toilet flush! THE END By:Terin Boschert (part 1) My diary I am so excited! I am finally old enough to go into an actual haunted house! Mom said I was allowed to ask a friend, so I asked Isabella (my bff). She was a little nervous at first, but I convinced her to come. It’s currently around 5:56 on October 30, 2015 and OMG, I can’t wait. Right now I am working on a costume to scare Bella (Isabella). I am making a clown because you know... why not. I just finished my clown and it’s around midnight and I am tired, so I am going to get some shut eye. I will probably write tomorrow. NiGhT:) GOOD MORNING! It is finally time to go scare Bella! She is coming over in about 22 minutes, so I better get ready! Just changed and this is looking adorbs! She is going to be soooo... scared when she sees this. My plan is to jump out of the hallway right next to the front door and then, I will scream “Come here little girl!”. I think it will be even more scarier if I hold a red balloon, so that’s what I will be doing! OMG… perfect timing, she’s here! |
