Yay! The Kane Area Middle School Science Olympiad team is going to States! They placed fourth at Regionals, and are hoping to do even better at States. Regions were held in Erie at Penn State Behrend. They took place on Tuesday, March 13. It was cold, but the only outdoor time was spent walking from event to event, or from the main hub, Erie Hall, to an event. For lunch, food was available to buy on the campus. For free time fulfillment, every participant got a free ticket to a planetarium show. One of the shows was about Mars. It told about the surface of mars, rovers sent there, and if we will ever send a person there. The State competition will be held on April 28, 2018, at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. The team has lots of time to prepare and ready their notes for the competition. The team may be spending a night in a hotel. If they don’t, they would have to be at the school pretty early. In conclusion, the Kane Area Middle School is pretty good. They are States-bound, and then hopefully Nationals-bound after that. They worked really hard, and it definitely paid off.
