Science Olympiad requires plenty of work. You have to take pages of notes for some topics and build roller coasters or towers for other topics. Some of them don’t require as much work, and you go in blind. I asked three members of the Science Olympiad team how they prepare for their topics, and they produced some interesting answers.
Mackenzie Blankenship said she budgets her time for taking notes and practicing and studying those notes. Dawson Glogau also said he takes notes for his topics. Jarek Fryzlewicz said he doesn’t prepare. Like I said before, you have to go in blind for some topics. You go to the event, and they give you something to build. You might require some prior knowledge of the basic structure of what they ask you to build, but most people possess that, so you don’t need much preparation for those topics.
